Still no summer vacation

Published June 25, 2005

SIALKOT, June 24: Most of the private educational institutions have so far not announced summer vacation despite a hot weather in Sialkot and Narowal districts. Reports said several schoolchildren fainted and hit by sunstroke during the last few days.

The parents have urged the government to force the managements of these schools in Sialkot, Daska, Sambrial, Uggoki, Pasrur, Chawinda, Badiana, Shakargarh, Zafarwal, Baddo Malhi, Narowal and surrounding areas to announce vacation at the earliest.

The protesting parents said this practice of giving education could be dangerous for the schoolchildren as most of the schools had no proper arrangement in classes to beat the heat.

Meanwhile, both Sialkot and Narowal districts on Thursday experienced the hottest day of the season when the mercury touched 48 degrees Celsius against the last day’s temperature of 46.6 degrees Celsius.—Correspondent
