RAWALPINDI, June 23: Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) on Thursday sent a bouquet and donation of Rs. 30,000 to ailing former Olympian Muhammad Ashfaq. Ashfaq played a key role as inside-right in Pakistan hockey team’s gold-medal victory in the 1968 Mexico City Olympics.

He was among the four Pakistani players chosen for the World XI on the conclusion of Mexico City Olympics — the others being right-half Saeed Anwar, centre-half Muhammad Riaz and inside-left Asad Malik.

The Pride-of-Performance Olympian is hospitalised at CMH suffering from hepatitis.
