PESHAWAR: A provincial task force against power theft and illegal connections on Monday claimed to have recovered Rs48 million and registered 185 FIRs in addition to arresting 306 accused persons and removing 3,186 illegal connections during the campaign against power theft in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to a statement issued here, during the last one month of the campaign launched on the directions of the federal government, Rs48 million was recovered while power instruments worth Rs50 million were also confiscated.

The provincial task force had been constituted under the chairmanship of secretary energy and power.

The task force’s reporting cell in-charge Saifullah Khan and deputy in-charge Malik Shuja Khan have submitted the monthly recovery report to the additional secretary power Mohammad Asif.

The recoveries were made in different parts of Peshawar and Bannu districts.

The team leader of the task force, secretary energy and power Salim Khan said the main purpose of the campaign was to create awareness among the masses of using electricity in legal framework. He stated that the operations would be conducted throughout the province against power theft. He urged general public to cooperate with Pesco and the district administration officials in order to accomplish the given assignment.
