LAHORE: Over 100 affectees of different housing and investment schemes on Thursday lodged their complaints with the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in an open court.

The affectees of the Eden Housing, Model Housing Enclave, OPF and Ferozepur City submitted applications to NAB Lahore Director General Shahzad Saleem who held the open court. A good number of Ferozepur City affectees also held a demonstration outside the NAB Thokar office urging its chairman to take notice of the fraud committed with them by the society administration.

The NAB also received applications from those who deposited amount in the ‘Double Shah’ like investment schemes and also against some officials of the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) and town municipal administrations (TMAs) for misuse of authority.

Mr Saleem said the bureau had taken measures to recover looted money from the culprits. He assured the affectees that the bureau would take strict action against the owners of the housing societies and others responsible for defrauding the complainants and compensate them after recovering the looted money.

He said in 2017, the NAB had recovered Rs4 billion from the culprits and was compensating the victims in this respect.

Meanwhile, the NAB has asked the affectees of the Arif Traders, Kasur, to file their claims within 15 days.

The Arif Traders allegedly received up to 75 per cent amount from the people for providing cars and tractors on easy installments. Its owners did not honour their commitment and deprived people of their deposits, the NAB said.
