LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore has returned Rs167.2 million to different government departments and private parties after recovering the amount from embezzlers in various scams.
NAB Lahore Director General Shahzad Saleem handed over Rs71.337m cheque to the representative of the Lahore Parking Company, Rs46.8m to an official of a private bank, Rs26.795m to the Pakistan Customs official, Rs13.5m to the Punjab government’s representative and Rs9.3m to a Lahore Development Authority official in a ceremony held at the bureau’s provincial headquarters here on Thursday.
Mr Saleem said only NAB’s Lahore region had recovered Rs4,140m from corrupt elements which was a record recovery within a year. In line with the clear directions from the NAB chairman, Rs1.5bn had been returned to the affectees of different scams or deposited with the national exchequer.
