ISLAMABAD: Six people were injured, three of them seriously, in a gas explosion at a restaurant in F-10 Markaz, police said.

The incident took place in the kitchen of the restaurant set up in the basement.

The explosion was followed by fire in which workers working in the kitchen were injured.

Traders and passersby rushed to the restaurant and informed the rescue workers and police immediately.

The injured workers were shifted to hospitals. Three were shifted to Pims while the remaining to a private hospital in F-10.

Shalimar police SHO Inspector Mohammad Arshad said the incident took place at Kubra Restaurant set up some three months ago.

The cause of the incident was gas leakage, he added.
