ISLAMABAD, June 21: The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is a strategic partner of Pakistan assisting it to reach the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and objectives of the poverty reduction strategy. This was stated by Adviser to Prime Minister on Finance and Revenues Dr Salman Shah in a meeting with Naveed Hamid, Senior Economist ADB, who called on him here on Tuesday.

Both sides reviewed the progress on Karachi Mega City Development project, which would be funded by the ADB.

The adviser emphasized the need to move faster on the project. Recognizing the importance of the project, the Sindh minister for finance assured full assistance in completing the project as it was in the best public interest.

The meeting was also attended by Minister of State for Finance Omar Ayub Khan and secretaries of finance and economic affairs division.—APP
