LAHORE: Two robbers on Wednesday looted Rs15 million from the employees of a moneychanger in Civil Lines area.

The incident occurred near the capital city police office where normally extensive patrolling and police presence is seen.

Police sources said that Faisal and Ayaz were supposed to take the payment to Gulberg to hand it over to a client. Naeem, who was running the business on The Mall, handed over 71,000 British pounds to Faisal and Ayaz and asked them to withdraw Rs3300,000 from a bank situated on the same road.

When they reached Lawrence Road on the office van, police said, two armed motorcyclists intercepted them, fired on their vehicle, snatched the amount and fled from the scene.

Police teams rushed to the site and started an investigation.

Theft: Unidentified thieves took away cash and other valuables worth over Rs300,000 from an auto parts shop in Green Town area.

Businessman Shahid Gulzar told the police the thieves entered his shop near Qadri Chowk and sped away after looting Rs225,000, DVR/cameras, recording system etc.

The businessman appealed to the police high-ups to arrest the culprits and recover his looted amount and other valuables. The police registered a case.
