MANSEHRA: SP investigation Zain Khan Jadoon has lauded the role of jirga system in Torghar, saying crime rate in the district is minimal compared to other parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

He was speaking at an open forum held in Judbah, the district headquarters of Torghar, on Wednesday.

He said that both the dispute resolution council and jirga system were effective tools in brining the crime ratio down.

A complainant told the forum that buildings of the government high school for boys and government middle school for girls were completed almost a year ago, but the education department had not made them functional as yet.

Another complainant said that there was no natural gas facility in the entire district, but forest department was not allowing them to cut their own trees for firewood and construction purposes. “We want relaxation in forest rules to provide legal right to the local people to cut own forest to meet their needs for firewood and construction,” he said.
