LAHORE/KASUR: Seven people died and 15 others injured, four of them critically, when a mini-truck carrying milk containers overturned on Sundar Road on Tuesday morning.

The incident occurred when the truck was transporting milk to the city from Bhamba village, Kasur. It was also carrying around 25 milkmen on its roof.

Saddar Division Superintendent of Police Ali Raza told Dawn when the vehicle reached near Sundar Estate, it suddenly overturned. As a result, most of the milkmen got trapped under the overturned vehicle and were injured, the SP added.

He said apparently the truck overturned because of rash driving.

Mr Raza said five of the injured milkmen died instantly, while two others succumbed to their injuries at hospital.

The Rescue 1122 teams rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to different hospitals, he said.

He said the truck’s driver was also among the injured persons.

According to Rescue 1122 spokesperson, those who died in the incident included Hanif (36), Hameed (62), Siddique (48), Abid (29) and 60-year-old Ibrahim. He added that the condition of four of the injured was said to be critical. Two of the dead people could not be identified.
