Make Khashoggi killers accountable, Pompeo tells Saudi prince

WASHINGTON: US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has spoken directly to Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, telling him that those involved in the killing of dissident Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi should be held “accountable”.

“The secretary emphasised that the United States will hold all of those involved in the killing of Jamal Khashoggi accountable, and that Saudi Arabia must do the same,” State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert said in a statement.

Ms Nauert said that Secretary Pompeo, who visited the kingdom last month to discuss the matter with the king and the prince, said the chief US diplomat again discussed the matter with the prince on Sunday.

Everyone knows who ordered it. But what US is saying is to catch the minions and hold them accountable to close the matter. This way the one without whose orders, nothing happens, can go scot free.

How could the secretary ask to hold all operatives accountable for the killing of Jamal Khashoggi when they were just following the orders of someone controlling the? The responsibility lies only upon the person ordering the kill.
