SUKKUR: Most parts of Sindh have started experi­en­cing thick fog/smog dur­ing night and morning hours causing poor visibility and hardship to drivers, besides breathing problem to asth­ma patients.

A remarkable decline in the movement of vehicular traffic on intercity and link roads after 11pm till around 9am is being noted as wea­ther conditions have started cha­nging across the prov­ince.

Usually busy roads in Rohri, Ali Wahan, Kandhra, Baberloi and many other towns in Sukkur, Ghotki, Khairpur, Shikarpur, Lark­ana, Jacobabad and Kandh­kot distri­cts in upper Sindh have been witnessing a marked decrease in move­ment of vehicles in the morning and late evening hours since the night intervening Saturday and Sunday due to poor visibility caused by smog.

Similar cond­itions prevail in Hyder­abad, Mirpurkhas, Badin, Sanghar and other districts in lower Sindh due to thick fog.

The few vehicles coming on roads during these timings are seen moving at a snail’s pace and keeping their lights on to avoid an accident while people wal­king on pavements or riding two-wheelers mostly have to use cloth sheets wrapped around their upper body.

Many private educational institutions in upper Sindh have “readjusted” their tim­ings, effective Monday (Nov 12).
