MIRAMSHAH, June 20: Two workers of the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) were killed and five others injured when their pick-up overturned near the Harmaz village in Mirali tehsil on Monday. The UNHCR workers were coming to the North Waziristan Agency headquarters from Bannu where they had gone to issue identity cards to the Afghan refugees who are required to leave the agency for their home country by June 30.
Witnesses said the UNHCR vehicle overturned owing to over-speeding before it rammed into a roadside tree.
The victims were identified as Sayedpur Shah, a resident of Bannu, and Bara Khan Torikhel. Names of the injured could not be ascertained.
Officials of the political administration started investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
