DADU: Police stopped burial of an 18-year-old woman after receiving information about her alleged murder in the name of honour in Jhallo village, some 10 kilometres from here, on Thursday.

They detained the woman’s husband and his two friends for interrogation after taking the body into custody.

Mithal Jatoi, along with his two close friends, was picked up when he, his family members and relatives took the body to the graveyard within the village hastily soon after she died.

Some people alerted the Jhallo police with information that Mithal might have poisoned his wife, Kanwal Jatoi, to death on suspicion about her character.

Police were reportedly informed that no funeral prayers of the deceased were offered so as to cover up the alleged murder.

The body was taken to Dadu Civil Hospital for a post-mortem examination and SSP Pervaiz Ahmed Umrani constituted a team to investigate the matter.
