LAHORE: At least 16 passengers were injured when a bus carrying participants of the Raiwind congregation overturned in Sundar on Sunday.

Police and Rescue 1122 teams shifted the injured to nearby hospitals. The injured, including Naimatullah, Ghulam Rasool, Abubakar and Mushtaq, were admitted to the Raiwind THQ hospital. Twelve others, including Abdul Aleem, Rafique, Abdul Raheem, Gull Mast, Shabbir, Nadeem, Qadir Khan, Imran Rasheed, Zahid Hamid, M Ali, Abdul Qadir and Israr, were provided first aid on the spot. The rescue officials said all the injured were out of danger.

Meanwhile, the first phase of the four-day Tableeghi Ijtema concluded peacefully in Raiwind on Sunday.

Thousands of participants of the congregation conducted a mass prayer for peace and prosperity of the country. According to the exit plan, the roads connected to Raiwind were closed for traffic and used only for exit of the congregation participants.

Chief Traffic Officer Liaquat Ali Malik, superintendents of police (Traffic) Sardar Asif and Asif Siddique reached the spot early in the morning to supervise the exit. Initially, motorcycle and rickshaw stands were vacated followed by car parking, wagon and truck stands.

Over 3,000 police officials under the supervision of 306 upper subordinates, 36 station house officers, 12 deputy superintendents of police and three SPs performed duties in three shifts. A police help desk had also been established on the occasion.

SUICIDE: A man died after allegedly jumping from an overhead bridge in Icchra on Sunday. Two people, including a woman, were also injured in the incident.

According to witnesses, Muhammad Shafi, 62, climbed the metro bridge and jumped from it. He fell on passersby Wazira Begum, 50, and Shahid Ashraf, 25. Both received injuries and were shifted to the Services Hospital.

A police team reached the spot and shifted the body to morgue for autopsy. They also collected forensic evidences from the scene and recorded statements of the witnesses. Police were conducting furthers investigations.
