QUETTA, June 19: Opposition parties in the Balochistan Assembly have alleged malpractices in recent appointments in government departments and corruption in the execution of development projects.

Speaking at a meeting, the opposition leaders alleged that the recruitments had been made on the basis of nepotism and bribery and demanded an investigation into the mater.

Nawab Mohammad Aslam Raisani, parliamentary leader of the People’s Party Parliamentarians in the provincial assembly presided over the meeting and Kachkol Ali of the National Party, Abdur Rahim Ziaratwal of the Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party, Akhtar Hussain Lango of the Balochistan National Party (Mengal) and others attended it.

In a statement issued after the meeting, its participants alleged that the provincial ministers were ‘selling’ government jobs and receiving kickbacks from contractors assigned development projects. The opposition leaders further alleged that provincial secretaries of government departments were also involved in the corruption.

They claimed that the opposition MPAs had been complaining of the irregularities for two and half years but the ‘corrupt’ government had failed to take any notice. They alleged that the provincial government had failed to protect the constitutional, political and financial rights of Balochistan.
