Apropos the article ‘CDA may again ask govt to fund Islamabad Expressway expansion’ (Oct 5). People living beyond the Koral Interchange were under the false impression that their agony in commuting to and fro the city centre would be over once the signal-free expressway from Zero Point to Rawat was finished.

The signal-free expressway was initiated on June 2015 and was supposed to be completed in a period of 10 months. Plans for the expansion of the expressway have been dropped owing to a paucity of funds.

Some relief could be provided in the shape of an underpass or overhead bridge at the intersection of PWD Colony with the expressway, which is a focal point of traffic, getting bogged. It is suggested that housing societies linked to the expressway, should contribute towards financing the project to mitigate the stressful journey of daily commuters travelling beyond Koral towards Rawat and back.

If the Naval Anchorage can build a flyover, why can the other societies not follow suit? The CDA could assist in providing expertise and also partially finance the project.
