ISLAMABAD: A man was found dead in his vehicle in the capital’s rural area, police said on Monday.

The incident came to light when a passerby spotted an abandoned vehicle in Dhoke Paracha with a man lying in it.

He informed the police who reached the scene and shifted the body to a hospital.

The vehicle was also shifted to a police station. The man was later identified as Khurram Shahzad, following which the police approached his family.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was returning from Taxila where he had gone to sell his vehicle, and was killed when he reached Dhoke Paracha.

According to evidence gathered by the police, Khurram was sitting next to the driver’s seat which showed that the car was being driven by another person.

He had a gunshot wound on his back.

Station House Officer Tarnol police station SI Iqbal Gujjar said it appeared to be a case of enmity.

Nothing was found missing from the victim, including cash and his mobile phone, the SI added.

The police believe that the killer was known to the victim.
