KARACHI: A whirlwind century by Asadullah and equally brilliant bowling from skipper K.M. Hafeez guided New Standard Secondary School to a huge 259-run victory over Hira Foundation School in the 9th PVCA/EBM Inter-school cricket tournament here the other day.

After opting to bat first at the Asghar Ali Shah Stadium, New Standard rode on wicket-keeper Asadullah’s belligerent 130-ball innings of 160 that contained 18 boundaries and two sixes, to amass 328-6 in 40 overs.

Slow left-armer Hafeez then ripped through Hira Foundation batting with astounding figures of five wickets for as many runs, with four of his eight overs being maiden, to bowl out the opposition for just 69 in 28.5 overs. In another match played at the Eastern Star Cricket Ground, Kamran Public School thumped Superior Educational Acad­emy by eight wickets.
