IT IS good to finally see a ban on quacks which restricts them from conducting small surgeries after a petition filed by the Young Doctors Association with the federal ombudsman. These quacks are a serious threat to the people’s lives as they are not professionals and conduct surgeries in an unhygienic environment.
This is a commendable step taken by the YDA and must be appreciated. However, this does lead to one question. What about those highly professional surgeons who take exorbitant fees from patients and don’t do the job properly? In some cases, surgeons have left towels and surgical equipment in the body of the patient during the surgery. Who is answerable for that?
The authorities are requested to take stern action against surgeons involved in criminal negligence.
