LAHORE: Provincial Minister for School Education Murad Raas says the department will use the latest technology to bring reforms in school education.

He was addressing an eight-member delegation of the Advance Research Engineering Consult and Fast Plants companies led by Meshal Alotibi at his office on Tuesday.

The delegation of the international technology companies from Saudi Arabia had offered to provide teaching tablets on subsidized rates to the Punjab Schools Education Department to raise awareness among students about the latest educational concepts according to the needs of the market.

The delegation also discussed the role of technology in promoting education reforms in the province and assured of their active cooperation for improving the schools education sector through the provision of the IT tools.

They also said they were interested in investing in Punjab education sector.

Mr Raas said the government would upgrade all the libraries in the schools and would soon start double shift in government schools to meet the educational needs of rising population.

He said the double shift in the schools would also help the government educate maximum number of students and the government was committed to bringing back the dropouts in schools to eliminate illiteracy.

ECP: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has banned the school education department officials to take part in any political activity relating to the upcoming by-elections.

The ECP had issued a letter to the teachers, head of the schools and other employees asking them not to participate in any political gathering and corner meetings. It has also stopped them from taking pictures with political personalities and to ensure that government property should not be used for political activity.

The commission said action would be taken against the officials under PEEDA Act in case of violation.
