DADU, June 15: Zila Nazim Dadu, Malik Asad Sikandar, has said that development works initiated in the district during the last five months of his suspension were illegal. He said that enquiries would be launched against erring officers and they would be charge-sheeted.
He was speaking at a joint meeting of UC nazims of Dadu and Jamshoro districts at the Zila Council Hall, Dadu, here on Wednesday.
Malik Asad said that the zila council had passed a unanimous resolution to the effect that Rs500,000 would be released to each UC nazim but the money was not released, which affected development works.
He said that officers who had created problems in releasing the amount to UC nazims in his absence would face action and reports would be sent to the Sindh government.
He said that development funds were misused in the district as schemes were carried out without the recommendations of the UC nazims. He said the newly-created district of Jamshoro was facing problems as there were no offices, no vehicles and no development funds.
He said that confusion prevailed about its budget as well. There was no clarity in the SLGO whether budget sessions of Dadu and Jamshoro districts would be held separately or together.
In order to resolve the issue, he added, a meeting would be held with Sindh chief secretary and secretary of local government before budget sessions.
Speaking on the occasion, council member Muhammad Paryal Birhamani said that after the suspension of the zila nazim Dadu, no council session was held. This affected development works while funds were misused. He said that details of all such works had been compiled.
Qazi Mushtaq Ahmed Mahessar, Naima Baloch, Dr Ibrahim Rind, Muhammad Usman Jamali, Ali Muhammad Soomro, and Abid Lakhair also spoke.
