LAHORE: A state-of-the-art cardiac surgery intensive care unit was inaugurated at the Children’s Hospital & Institute of Child Health here on Monday.

Equipped with eight motorised beds and latest medical equipment, including an echo-cardiography machine, ECMO heart lung machine, near infra-red spectroscopy, the unit was formally inaugurated by Mian Mohammad Mansha, chairman of the Nishat Group, the sponsors of the health facility since 2004.

More than 3,000 cardiac surgeries had been performed on children of all ages at the unit during the last 10 years.

Dean Prof Dr. Masood Sadiq, former dean Prof Dr Sajid Maqbool, Prof Dr Shehryar Khan and members of faculty and other private sector donors attended the opening ceremony.
