LAHORE, June 13: The Punjab Assembly on Monday unanimously passed a resolution condemning desecration of the Holy Quran by some American army men at Guantanamo Bay. The resolution, jointly drafted by treasury and opposition benches, was moved in the house by Law Minister Raja Basharat.

The resolution read: “This house strongly condemns the desecration of the Holy Quran by certain elements of the US army at Guantanamo Bay.

“The shameful incident has sent a wave of shock and grief across the Muslim world. The whole house strongly protests the incident and demands a thorough probe into it.”

Through the resolution, the house demanded that deterrent punishment should be given to all those involved in the incident.
