BAHAWALPUR: Three passengers were killed and 13 others injured in a bus accident on Bahawalpur-Hasilpur road on Sunday.

According to police and Rescue 1122 officials, an over-speeding bus was coming here from Hasilpur. When it reached near village 7/BC, about 9km from here, the driver lost control over the vehicle due to which it overturned. One passenger was killed on the spot.

Rescue 1122 sources said that about 15 passengers were shifted to the emergency ward of the Bahawal Victoria Hospital where two succumbed to their wounds, while 13 were admitted for treatment. Five of the injured were stated to be in serious condition.

Baghdadul Jadid police claimed to have arrested the bus driver for driving recklessly.

TEST: As many as 3,354 candidates sat the test for admission to medical colleges of the province held under the auspices of University of Health and Sciences Lahore.

The local divisional and district administration, police and other law enforcing agencies had adopted strict security measures on the university campus for candidates and their parents.
