SANGHAR: Bodies of a couple, who married for love five months ago against the wishes of the woman’s family and were apparently killed on the orders of a jirga, came to the surface when labourers were digging up land in Nawab Sadiq village near here on Saturday.

Sources in the village said that the labourers hit on the decomposed bodies of Hamidan Narejo and Sajan Narejo while digging up land and immediately informed police, who arrested five family members of the slain woman including her father and registered an FIR.

The sources said that late Hamidan had eloped with her relative Sajan and ran away to Jacobabad where they contracted marriage. The woman’s family traced out the couple and somehow persuaded them to return to the village. No sooner did they return the family convened a jirga which declared the couple karo-kari and they were later axed to death.
