HYDERABD: The Supreme Court-mandated judicial commission on water and sanitation in Sindh has directed Hyderabad mayor, divisional commissioner, deputy commissioner, Hyderabad Development Authority’s director general, Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) and Cantonment Board Hyderabad’s cantonment executive officer to appear before it at the judges lodge on Friday.

The directives are communicated by commission’s registrar Ghulam Mustafa Channa.

The commission might visit the city in view of several complaints of accumulation of sewage and chronic issues of encroachment.

The commission has been looking after development and upgradation work of Wasa, shifting of old vegetable market from the city area to its new location, etc.

The commission is said to have taken notice of complaints and media reports about insanitation in the city and that Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (HMC) has given two hoots to the directives issued by the commission regarding cleanliness, encroachments and improvement in civic infrastructure from time to time during Hyderabad visits.
