KARACHI: Captain Sar­war Shaheed XI beat Lance Naik Mehfooz Shaheed XI 70-38 while Major Aziz Bhatti Shaheed XI beat Rashid Minhas Shaheed XI by 83-58 to enter the semi-finals of the Defence Day basketball championship here at the Arambagh courts on Sunday night.

In the first match Mohammad Moeed (23 points), Zainul Abideen (18 points) and Talal Ahmed (15 points were the main scorers for winners Captain Sarwar Shaheed XI.

For the losing side, Ahad Khan (14 points), Hamza Khwaja (10 points) and Mohammad Faizan (6 points) were the main scorers.

In the second match, Major Aziz Bhatti XI was led brilliantly by Ali Murtaza (36 points) and Taimur Zaheer (36 points) and Kenneth Johnson (6 points).

For Rashid Minhas Shaheed XI, Usaid Saeed (18 points), Faheem Khan (10 points) and Wasim Rasool (6 points) played well.
