ISLAMABAD: The PTI-led government will face issues in asserting democratic supremacy in the country in addition to the usual governance and service-delivery challenges, think tank Islamabad Policy Institute (IPI) has said in a new book.

The book titled Pakistan: Mapping the Policy Agenda (2018-2023) provides an insight into several policy challenges and fleeting opportunities that the new Pakistan government confronts.

The book has been published in collaboration with German organisation Konrad Adenauer Stiftung.

It says the country is still far from achieving long-term political stability because polarization in society and body-politic has deepened.

Based on a year’s research, the book is divided into three sections. The first section has a forward by IPI Executive Director Syed Mohammad Sajjad Shabbir and an executive summary of policy papers by the editor of the publication, Syed Mohammad Ali.

The second section includes a comparative analysis of the manifestos of the three main parties of Pakistan – PTI, PML-N and PPP – which have the experience of governing Pakistan and shaping and steering its policy agenda on critical national issues.

The second section also provides specific policy recommendations on several key subjects for legislators, relevant parliamentary committees and respective ministries as well as scholars and students who are interested in a well-informed policy debate process.

The third part consists of 16 policy papers on national issues written by leading experts in their respective fields.
