HYDERABAD: Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians information secretary Nafisa Shah has said that her party is ready to give 1000 days instead of 100 to Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf government to do what it wants to do.

She said at a press conference at local press club on Saturday that PTI’s populist policies would damage its government and lead to further isolation of the country in international community.

PPP was not afraid of accountability but if it turned into witch-hunting it would resist, she said, adding the way the task force on corruption was being formed and people were being arrested would send a negative message to investors.

She warned that PPP would resist any attempt to roll back the 18th Amendment and said that if the PTI government had any plan for improving local government system it should bring it to Council of Common Interests and discuss it with all the federating units.

She admitted the local government system could be further improved after making some necessary changes which could be done through a dialogue at the constitutional forum.

She criticised the prime minister’s asking expatriate Pakistanis to donate money for the construction of dams which involved a cost of at least Rs1.14 trillion.

If the prime minister thought he could build a dam from donations he should rethink his strategy because what he was saying was not practicable.

He would have to improve the economy and taxation system to generate revenue for such a mega project, she said.

She said that Pakistan faced a financial crisis and had to immediately grapple with a deficit of at least nine billion dollars but the PTI government had not disclosed yet how it was going to tackle it.

PPP Sindh information secretary Aajiz Dhamrah also spoke at the news conference.
