ISLAMABAD: The spillways of Rawal Dam were opened again on Saturday morning for several hours as the water level had crossed 1,752 feet capacity level due to rains in some areas of Murree.

The spillways have been opened three times in ten days and are likely to be opened for fourth time in the middle of coming week as more rainfall is expected over Murree and the northern parts of Islamabad.

Rawal Lake supplies water to Rawalpindi, and the improvement in water level is not only blessing for Pindiites but for Islamabad as well as it will improve the water table in areas around Rawal lake.

However, the Simly Dam has yet to be filled to its capacity.

Though the skies over whole of South Asia are clear with no chance of widespread rainfall in next few days, a localised cloud formation is visible at the satellite imagery posted at the Met Office website.

This localised system is likely to bring brief thundershowers over Islamabad and in some parts of Murree and Galliat, Gujranwala, Lahore, Malakand divisions, Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir on Sunday morning and Tuesday. The hot and humid conditions will continue to dominate in the coming days.
