Asad cracks century

KARACHI, June 11: Promising young Karachi opening batsman Ali Asad scored a scintillating century to help Zone-II Whites cruise into the semifinals of the KCCA Under-19 Inter-zonal cricket championship on Friday. Ali hit 123, a knock that was laced with 10 fours and one six, as Zone-II Whites amassed 326 for seven in 50 overs against Zone-VI Blues at the TMC ground.

Hammad Khan also shone with the bat with 80, laden with nine boundaries, while Mohammad Fahim struck eight fours in making 61.

Zone-VI Blues were bundled out for 123 in 25 overs to lose the match by 203 runs. Medium-pacer Zeeshan Ali, who shared the Man-of-the-Match award with Ali Asad, was chief destroyer with seven for 75 in 13 overs.
