ISLAMABAD, June 11: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Saturday stressed the need for unity among Muslim countries to meet future challenges. He was talking to a delegation of the Muslim World League led by its secretary-general, Dr Abdullah Ibn Abdul Mohsin Al Turki, says a statement.

The prime minister said Islam was a complete code of life and Muslims need to seek guidance from the Holy Quran to resolve all their issues. He said Islam was a religion of peace, harmony and respect, but unfortunately it was misunderstood in the world.

“We need to work collectively to remove misunderstandings about Islam and project its true image,” he said.

Today’s world is a global world where all faiths have to learn to live in peace, harmony and tolerance, he said, adding that Islam abhorred extremism and violence. However, the world community must also look at the root causes which led to the display of such extreme behaviours.

He said Pakistan would work together with the Muslim world and organizations to raise the flag of Islam through hard work and determination.

He said the Muslim world had a lot of resources and strengths and also the capacity to meet all challenges.

“We must not miss any opportunity to project our views at international forums and interact with political leaders, intellectuals and mediapersons and visit international universities to present the true image of Islam and remove misunderstanding against this great religion,” he said.
