BAHAWALNAGAR: Three minor girls of a family drowned in the river Sutlej in the limits of McLeod Ganj police on Friday.

According to Rao Shrafat, District Officer Emergency of 1122, the incident took place near Mauza Karampur Gaghoka where a family had come to the river for a picnic.

Four minor sisters -- Tanzeela (8), Mahnoor (10), Doa Fatima (6), Intashar Fatima (3) and their cousin Farah (14) went into deep waters and cried for help.

On receiving information, a Rescue 1122 team reached the spot and recovered Tanzeela and Mahnoor alive while Farah was recovered dead.

The search was on for Doa and Intashar who were feared to be dead.
