HALLE (Germany), June 10: World number one Roger Federer breezed through to the Halle Open semifinals with a 6-3 6-4 win over Germany’s Philipp Kohlschreiber on Friday.

He was joined in the last four by Russian second seed Marat Safin, who beat Olivier Rochus of Belgium 6-4 7-6, and German Tommy Haas who defeated Spain’s Juan Carlos Ferrero 6-2 7-5.

LONDON: Andy Roddick maintained his charge towards a hat trick of Stella Artois titles on Friday but British third seed Tim Henman slumped to a disappointing defeat in the quarterfinals of the pre-Wimbledon event.

Defending champion and second seed Roddick dispatched Frenchman Sebastien Grosjean 6-4 7-6 while Henman, three times a runner-up at Queen’s, lost 6-4 6-4 to Sweden’s Thomas Johansson.
