A teenager was shot dead while another person was injured over a trivial issue in Korangi Industrial Area of Karachi, police and hospital officials said on Monday.

Two persons arrived at a restaurant in Mehran Town to buy water where a scuffle erupted between them and the restaurant owner. The people sitting at the restaurant intervened and pacified the two parties. However, a few minutes later, the restaurant owner called several of his relatives who attacked the duo.

According to Korangi Industrial Area SHO Jamal Leghari, 17-year old Saddam Husain and 39-year-old Ameer Ali sustained critical bullet injuries in the fight. The two men were shifted to Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Centre where Hussain succumbed to injuries during treatment, Dr Seemin Jamali, executive director of the hospital, told Dawn

After receiving information about the incident, contingents of police rushed to the spot but the suspects had already shut the restaurant down and managed to escape, said SHO Leghari.
