PESHAWAR: The city police have arrested two persons for killing a transgender person.

SP cantonment circle Waseem Riaz told reporters on Friday that the incident took place late on Thursday in the limits of Pishtakhara police station.

He said a patrolling party stopped a person carrying a shopping bag on Bara Road, adding upon checking the bag, mutilated human body parts were recovered from it.

He said police arrested the suspect, Mohammad Farooq of Munkarow village, who informed the police that his other accomplice, Sadaqat, had killed a transgender individual, Nazo, and later cut her body into pieces to throw it away easily.

Mr Riaz said later the police raided the area, arrested Sadaqat and recovered the pistol used in killing Nazo.

During interrogation, Sadaqat told police that the transgender individual had long been his friend, but he murdered her when she befriended other people.

The police registered FIR against the accused.
