LARKANA: Members of the Shaikh community of Larkana took to the streets of the city and held a demonstration at the Jinnahbagh gate against “extrajudicial killing” of Khamiso Shaikh, who was shot dead by police in an alleged encounter with “a bandit” on Monday.

The protesters told the media that the Larkana police had picked up Khamiso and two other members of the family in a raid on his house a few days ago. They alleged that Khamiso was killed in cold blood, and expressed their strong fear that the other two detained persons, Tasleem Shaikh and Shahid Shaikh, might also be eliminated in the same manner.

They were of the view that the police actually mistook Khamiso as the wanted criminal, Ali Gohar Shaikh.

They demanded immediate release of their detained community members and punishment to the police team involved in Khamiso’s murder.
