DELHI: “From a disorganised crowd of people ashamed to call themselves Musalmans, we have been transformed in the short span of seven years by the inspiring leadership of Qaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah, into a well-knit nation proud of its name and its glorious past united under one flag and determined to achieve its goal,” said Nawabzada Liaquat Ali Khan, presiding over a mammoth meeting of Muslims held this night [August 13] in the Jama Masjid, in connection with the observance of the Thanks-giving Day.

The meeting was attended by about 25,000 people and the cries of Qaid-e-Azam Zindabad reverberated in the vaults of the Moghul Mosque and rent the skies, when the Nawabzada began to speak of the great achievements of the great leader of Muslim India.

Nawabzada expressed his sense of satisfaction at the great response made by Muslims all over India to his call for the celebration of Thanks-giving Day, and observed that the feelings expressed by Muslims indicated what place Mr. Jinnah occupied in the heart of Muslim India.

Earlier in the day, after Juma prayers special thanks-giving services were held in all mosques and prayers offered for the long life of the Qaid-e-Azam. From early morning till late in the afternoon at about 25 different places the poor people were fed and alms distributed. — Dawn Delhi
