QUETTA: Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) chief Senator Sirajul Haq says he will support the next government’s efforts to weed out corruption because Pakistan and corruption cannot go together.

Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday along with other JI leaders, he said he would support the next government’s positive steps and oppose the ones deemed to be harmful for the country. Senator Haq said a peaceful Balochistan was the guarantee of a prosperous Pakistan and urged Islamabad to fulfill its obligations to develop the backward province.

He said the Balochistan people had been deprived of basic facilities like health, education and drinking water.

He criticised the Election Commission of Pakistan, saying that it had failed in conducting fair, free and transparent elections in the country.
