ISLAMABAD: The caretaker government has decided to keep the prices of petroleum products unchanged, ignoring recommendations of the petroleum regulator and petroleum division to increase their rates.

“The government has decided to maintain the prices of petroleum products at the existing level during the month of August 2018,” said a brief statement issued by the finance ministry early on Wednesday.

The statement confirmed that the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority had recommended a price hike but the caretaker government decided to keep the rates unchanged. The prices of petrol would, therefore, remain unchanged at Rs95.24 per litre, of high speed diesel at Rs112.94 per litre, of light diesel oil at Rs75.37 per litre and of kerosene at Rs83.96 per litre.
