SUKKUR: A man shot dead his wife on suspicion of her extramarital affair with someone in Ghulam Ali Jakhrani village of Jacobabad on Sunday.

Officials at the Mauladad police station said that Shafiq Ahmed Jakhrani allegedly shot dead his wife, Gul Jan, at their house and fled.

They said that the couple had wedded only three months ago and for some time the suspect had been suspicious about her loyalty with him.

On Sunday, Jakhrani shot dead his young wife and escaped from the house, they said.

An FIR was yet to be registered, the police said, adding that a hunt for the suspect was on.

The woman’s body was taken to the Jacobabad Civil Hospital for a post-mortem examination and then handed over to the heirs.
