Heatwave takes its toll

SAHIWAL, June 5: Eight people lost their lives at the DHQ Hospital owing to an intense heatwave during the last 24 hours. With Mercury touching 49 degree Celsius, some 22 more patients with heat stroke were brought to hospital. The doctors described the condition of six of them as serious. Those died included Amin, Amiran Bibi, Bashir Ahmed of Okara, Ahmed of Chak 138/9-L, Sadruddin of Sahiwal, Danial of Chak 148/9-L and Razia Bibi. — Correspondent
