Qambar as district urged

Published June 6, 2005

LARKANA, June 5: The Citizens Action Committee, Qambar, on Sunday resumed their protests and urged the government to name the district as Qambar instead of Shahdadkot. A large number of people staged a demonstration and marched on the main roads of the town. Nazeer Tunio and Bhao Buriro led the protesters.

They assembled at the Martyrs’ Square and staged a sit-in.

They criticized the Sindh government for making false commitment of declaring Qambar a district and it’s headquarter.

The Sindh chief minister and his cabinet members had visited the town and met a cross section of people before arriving at the decision.

On the occasion, Mujeeb Khaskheli, Munwar Soomro, Qurban Khokhar, Ali Nawaz Larik, Nisar Ansari, Manzoor Brohi and Qadeer Tunio started observing 24-hour hunger strike.
