LARKANA: With the electioneering in the entire Larkana region touching its peak on Sunday, all candidates belonging to the contesting parties and independents held two, three or even more corner meetings and took out rallies to mobilise voters.

Speaking at various such gatherings in Larkana city and Akil village organised by the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), its Sindh president Nisar Ahmed Khuhro and women wing president Faryal Talpur told the audience that the recently revived Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) publicly declared its intention to divide Sindh.

“The GDA has endorsed Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s long-standing demand for more administrative units to be created within Sindh,” said Khuhro, adding that the alliance did so only to come to power.

He declared that PPP would neither let Karachi become a province nor would it let the GDA to form its government in Sindh.

“Their dream will never come true ... the people of Sindh and PPP will foil their nefarious designs,” he said.

He also accused Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) of siding with MQM on this demand which, according to Khuhro, tantamount to betraying Sindh.

“How those who are not loyal to this soil [Sindh] can be loyal to its people,” he argued.

Without naming Abbasis of Larkana, Khuhro said those who had in the past been on the driving seat of PPP were now out to betray it. “But the people of Larkana are not like them and will not follow them,” he said.

Faryal Talpur said that victory of PPP candidates in the July 25 election was essential for the continuity of democracy, and expressed her confidence that her party would form its government for a third time after the election.

During the course of the PPP electioneering on Sunday, former Sindh United Party president Talib Hussain Mughal announced his decision to join PPP.
