ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) on Wednesday appointed senior bureaucrat Syed Abu Akif as the new secretary for the federation.
Abu Akif, who is currently serving as the Secretary Cabinet Division, Federal Government of Pakistan, is known as a sports friendly person. He will be retiring from his govt post in the near future to fully focus on the tennis activities in the country.
“The appointment of Syed Abu Akif is a fine development as he is a great sports lover,” said president PTF, Salim Saifullah.
As authorised by the Council at its last meeting, Akif’s appointment will be ratified at the next meeting.
Speaking to Dawn, Khawar Hayat, Senior Vice President PTF, hailed the appointment of the new secretary and said it augurs well for the future of tennis in Pakistan.
