BATTAGRAM: Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Sami (JUI-S), Battagram chapter, has announced that it will support independent candidate in NA-12 and PTI nominee in PK-29 constituencies of the district.

The announcement was made during a meeting held at the JUI-S office here the other day, where the party’s local leadership assured support to independent candidate Maulana Rasheed Ahmed and PTI’s Taj Mohammad Khan.

Party’s local leader Maulana Ameenul Haq, who chaired the meeting, said that after consultation with the party’s provincial and central leadership, they were given a go ahead to join hands with the PTI on the provincial assembly constituency. He said the previous PTI-led provincial government had delivered the goods as it made visible changes in people’s lives and also did a lot for the betterment of the Ulema across the province. He added that PTI government also started stipend for the ulema. According to the political analysts, JUI-S has a sizable vote bank in the constituency and they will play a key role in the outcome of the polls.

WOMAN KILLED: A woman was killed allegedly by her brother-in-law over a family dispute in the limits of Shamlai police station.

According to officials, the victim aged 30 was shifted to the district headquarters hospital, Battagram, where after autopsy the body was handed over to the relatives. The police said that the husband of the woman was working abroad and she was living with her parents. Police registered the case against the accused and started further investigation.
