RAWALPINDI: Mutahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) has finalized all arrangements to hold public meeting at Liaquat Bagh on Saturday despite imposition of section 144 in the district.

However, a senior official of district administration told Dawn that MMA was granted permission to hold public meeting as per code of conduct of Election Commission of Pakistan on July 14 and Tehreek Labbaik Pakistan on Sunday July 15.

He said MMA was granted permission after clearance from law enforcement agencies. He said section 144 has been implemented in the province for last one month but the public meetings had been allowed in designated places only.

In the public meeting, Maulana Fazlur Rehman of JUI, Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) emir Sirajul Haq, Allama Sajid Naqvi, Pir Ijaz Naqshbandi, Maulana Sajid Mir, Liaquat Baloch and others will address the people.

MMA District President Shamsur Rehman Swati and Secretary General Dr. Ziaur Rehman visited Liaquat Bagh to inspect the arrangements of the public meeting. The MMA workers installed stage and hanged party flags.

Talking to Dawn, JI District spokesman said that the permission was granted by the district administration and the arrangements had been finalized for the public meeting.
