FAISALABAD, June 2: Unscheduled power breakdowns and trippings have made the life of citizens miserable in the sizzling weather. Long hours of breakdowns in commercial and residential areas even in odd hours owing to the poor performance of Fesco authorities are adding to the people’s problems.
Inhabitants of Jinnah Colony, Gulberg, Ghulam Muhammadabad, Circular Road, Civil Lines, Dijkot Road, People’s Colony, D-Type Colony, Gulistan Colony and other areas have blamed Fesco highups for one to two hours of power suspension daily.
Similarly, industrial workers and factory owners in Faizabad, Sohailabad, Dogranwan Road, Maqbool Road, Dhudiwala, Jaranwala Road, Satiana Road and Sargodha Road are also bearing the brunt of power suspension. They claim to have been sustaining huge losses owing to regular power breakdowns.
Shopkeepers of eight bazaars, cloth markets, grocery markets and other business centres located in internal city areas are the real victims. They are seen sitting idle outside their shops for hours together because of power interruptions.
Abrupt power breakdowns and trippings have also destroyed electric appliances in dozens of houses. Students and teachers in educational institutions are also the sufferer of an irregular power supply.
Citizens have demanded that the Wapda chairman should take stock of the situation and direct Fesco officials to take appropriate steps to improve the power supply system.
Fesco authorities said the power supply was disconnected in some areas only for some repair work.
However, they claimed that power breakdowns were reported from different areas only because of extraordinary pressure on main lines and not on account of any negligence.
