KARACHI: A suspected robber was shot dead in an ‘encounter’ in Khokhrapar on Sunday evening, police said.

They added that Asim, alias Don, had allegedly looted a citizen at a corner of a Habib Bank branch near Saudabad Chowk at around 5.30pm and was fleeing when a police party arrived there. The robbery victim indicated the police party about the suspect who chased him. However, the suspect resorted to firing and during an exchange of gunfire he was arrested in a wounded condition.

The wounded suspect was taken to the JPMC, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival. The police said the dead had a criminal record.
